Taken from the medieval carvings 1490 – 1495 from within the choir stalls of Ripon Cathedral. This magnificent and outstanding reproduction carving is know as The Ripon Demon, unlike most of the carving we have reproduced from within the Cathedral that are Misericord support carvings this gem of a find is located on the arm rests inbetween the Misericords. This Mythical creature is a type of Demon and it’s purpose is that of warding off evil and protecting the occupants within the Cathedral during the long medieval services. It’s a stunning carving of a mythical creature that’s in excellent condition and the reproduction captures all the fine detail that the master craftsmen put in to this piece of work over 500 years ago
